Awareness Programme on Child abuse and Workshop on Self Defense Skills was held at  Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumkur on 11.08.2014 for  the school children of class 7^th to 12 th standard.

The Programme was inaugurated by Smt, Vijayalakshmi, sub inspector of Police, Tumkur East Traffic Station, in presence of Dr. C.M. Gurumurthy, Dr. Raman M Hulinayakr, Sri. G.S Naik, CEO, Shridevi Charitable Trust, Dr.Shalini .M Head, Dept of General medicine Dr.Sanjay Raj, Dept of Psychiatry.

In her inaugural speech Smt. Vijayalakshmi, Sub inspector of Police said that school children need to raise their voices whenever they are abused. Also gave the Helpline Number to the students in case of emergency.

Dr.Shalini and Dr.Sanjay Raj gave their presentations to the school children on how to address the consequences of child abuse.

Theme: Breastfeeding - Winning Goal for Life

World Breastfeeding week 2014 was celebrated on 07/08/2014 at 11:00am. It was conducted in Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital in association with Shridevi College of Nursing and Shri Ramanamaharshi College of Nursing.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. C.M.Gurumurthy,  Dean, SIMS&RH, Mr. G H Nayak  CEO  Shridevi Charitable Trust. Dr. Vijay R Thubaki Vice-Principal,  Dr. Palakshaiah Prof & HOD Dept of Orhtopaedics and Dr. Royadu RMO.

Key note address was delivered by Dr.  C.M.Gurumurthy, Dr. Vijay R Thubaki, Dr. Royadu, Dr. Shalini  Prof & HOD Dept of Medicine and Dr. M C Prabhudeva MSW Dept of Community Medicine.

Scientific session was presented by Dr. Amruth.M, Assistant Professor, Dept of community medicine, SIMS&RH, Dr. Santosh Prof & HOD Dept of Pediatrics, SIMS&RH and Prof. L. Regina, Shridevi Nursing College.

A skit on awareness of Breastfeeding was presented by Dr. Dharneesh Prasad, Assistant Professor, Dept of community medicine, SIMS&RH and Nursing students.

Vote of thanks was given Miss. Betty, Shridevi Nursing College.

FREE ORTHOPEDIC CAMP was conducted by Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumkur & sponsored by Wipro, Narendra foundation at Arakere, Tumkur Taluq on 06^th August 2014 between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Camp was inaugurated by Dr. Vijay R Tubaki. Dr.Joylin, Dr,Navya from dept of orthopedics Dr.Saroja , Mr.Umapathi  Wipro,Narendra Foundation were present.

In his inaugural speech Dr.Vijay Tubaki, Briefed about the schemes and Facilities in SIMSRH.

The total number of patients seen and treated in the camp was about 70. Some of the patients were referred to Shridevi Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

Welcome speech was given by Mr.Umapathi of  Wipro Narendra Foundation.

The response was positive and encouraging and camp was conducted in a peaceful manner.

Mr.Venkatesh, General Manager, Wipro consumer care,Tumkur, was present at camp site expressed his willingness to extend support in future days.

FREE HEALTH CAMP was conducted by Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumkur & sponsored by Amala’s Kutumba Abirudhi Yojane at AMALAGONDHI, Sira Taluk, Tumkur district on 01^st August 2014 between 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Camp was inaugurated by Dr. Amruth. M, Assistant Professor of Community Medicine, Dr. Somasundar, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Dr. Shubha, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, Dr. Smitha, Assistant Professor of ENT, Sister Rosamma of AKAY and Dr. M.C. Prabhudeva, MSW, Dept of Community Medicine.

Health awareness program on Causes, Signs & Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention of Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya was presented by Dr.Prashant.J. H, Dr. Amruth. M and Dr. Dharaneesh Prasad from Department of Community Medicine, SIMS&RH.

The total number of patients seen and treated in the camp was about 260. Medicine – 64, Surgery- 24, OBG- 42, Pediatric- 42, Orthopedics- 38, ENT- 32, Ophthalmology- 18. Some of the patients were referred to Shridevi Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

Welcome speech was given by Mr. Jagadish of AKAY and vote of thanks was given by Mr. Govindappa of AKAY.

The response was positive and encouraging and camp was conducted in a peaceful manner.

HIV / AIDS awareness programme for municipal labors and road construction workers was held on 23/07/2014 afternoon 02:00PM to 05:00PM. It was organized by department of Community Medicine, Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumkur.

Chief guest of the programme was Deputy Mayor Mrs. Dhanalakshmi Ravi, Tumkur City Corporation.

Dr. C. M. Gurumurthy, Dean, SIMS&RH; Dr. Raman. M. Hulinaykar, Medical Director, SIMS&RH; Mrs. Asha Prasannakumar, Deputy commissioner, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Mr. Ameen, President, Rotary Young Brigade & Dr. Sagorika Mullick, Prof & Head, Dept of Community Medicine, SIMS&RH were the guests of honor.

One minute condolence was observed for the death of 6 AIDS researchers in the Malaysian plane crash on 17-7-2014.

Introductory speech was given by Dr. Raman. M. Hulinaykar. The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries on the dias by lighting the lamp. Main speakers of the programme were Dr. Amruth.M, Assistant Professor, Dept of community medicine, SIMS&RH and Dr. Shankar. D, Medical Officer, ART Center, Tumkur.

A Skit on AIDS was presented by final year nursing students of Shridevi Nursing College. The programme was concluded by vote of thanks by Dr. M.C.Prabhudeva, M.S.W, Dept of Community Medicine, SIMS&RH.

The programme was a huge success & all the participants got to learn about Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment & Prevention of HIV / AIDS.
