Faculty Development Program: "Basic Course in Medical Education"

Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumkur

July 10-12, 2024

 

 

The Department of Medical Education at Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumkur successfully conducted a Faculty Development Program titled "Basic Course in Medical Education" from July 10-12, 2024. This program was held under the esteemed guidance of Dr. M L Harendra Kumar, Principal, SIMS&RH & leadership of Dr. Syed Sadat Ali, the Medical Education Unit (MEU) Coordinator.

Program Overview

The program was conducted under the Regional Centre, M S Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore, and was approved by the National Medical Commission. The Faculty Development Program aimed to enhance the teaching skills, knowledge, and overall effectiveness of the medical faculty, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide high-quality medical education.

Objectives

The "Basic Course in Medical Education" aimed to:

Equip medical faculty with advanced teaching methodologies, foster a deeper understanding of educational principles and curriculum development, enhance assessment and evaluation techniques in medical education& promote the integration of technology in teaching and learning processes.The program has empowered faculty members with the knowledge and skills necessary to elevate the standard of medical education offered at the institution.

Conclusion

The College management extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Medical Education team for their continued efforts and dedicationto set quality benchmark for professional development and to the Regional Centre at M S Ramaiah Medical College for their invaluable support under NMC. The commitment and enthusiasm of all participants made this program a resounding success.The institution looks forward to further advancements in teaching excellence and academic achievements.

 

Doctors Day 2024

Doctors Day Celebration was held at Shridevi Institute of Medical Science and Hospital on 1st July 2024

Every year of July celebrates a doctor’s day to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of Dr. B.C Roy who was a renowned Physician, Surgeon educationist and freedom fighter.

Dr. Chandra Shekhar Shetty , President and former Vice-chancellor  of Karnataka (FVCK) Bangalore was the chief guest

The program was graced by Dr. Raman Hulinaykar MD, Sri M.S Patil Director HR & IT SIMS&RH ,  Dr. Harendra Kumar Principal, Dr. Lavanya Trustee, SSCT , Dr. Rekha Gurumurthy VP & PG Director & Dr. Hemanth Raj. VP Administration

As the tradition of SIMS every year doctors of the institution are awarded for their contribution for the growth of the institution Awards are a way to encourage doctors and heartily commutative sprit among fallow colleges with this vision three years ago recognize and appreciated the academic and clinical excellence of doctors of SIMS & RH

This year in addition to awards for the academic and clinical excellence another award is added to recognize the outstanding contribution of doctors in the administration field

Dr. Hemanth Raj M.N. Viceprincipal, Administration was recipient of Administrative Excellence Award 2024

Dr. Kavyashree N.G Prof & HOD of Anastasia was recipient of clinical Excellence Award 2024

Dr. Madhusudhan S Prof of Forensic Medicine was recipient of Academic Excellence Award 2024

Fallowing the introduction of all the awardees winners were felicitated by the esteemed dignitaries  It was a heartwarming moment to listen to the experiences and responses of “Shridevi B. C . Roy Awards “

 

CME on MICRONUTRIENTS AND HEALTH

 

Department of Community Medicine and   Department of Biochemistry jointly organised  CME on 29/5/24 on concept   Micronutrients and Health with the theme 'Road to eliminate hidden hunger in India - current trends'. Speakers in different sections of Ministry of health and family welfare, Karnataka   sensitised the audience about progress of various programs towards micronutrients and health..Management and Administration of SIMS & RH  congratulated the organizing team for successful completion of program and encouraged to conduct more such activities.

Faculty Development Program

Skills training Orientation program to the medical faculty at SIAMS skill lab carried out by Skill Lab committee in association with MEU, SIMS&RH.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr Deepak TG, and Dr Yogesh D, Deputy Coordinators SIAMS Skill Lab and Dr Syed Sadat Ali sir, MEU Coordinator for smooth coordination.

On Thursday, March 14, at 11 am, a program was organized to celebrate International Women's Day in the auditorium hall of Shridevi Hospital, on behalf of Shridevi Charitable Trust, Sira road,In the picture, B V Ashvija, Commissioner of Tumkur Mahanagara Corporation, H V Pallavi, Sub-Environment Officer, K. Tejawathi, Labor Officer, Dr. M.R. Hulinaykar, President of Shridevi Education Institute, Dr. Raman R. Hulinaykar, Medical Director of Shridevi, Ophthalmologist Dr. Lavanya and heads of various departments and teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the program.

I also thank Cardiologist, Dr Suresh sir and for the dedicated work from my department staff,  the students, IT staff n store who all contributed towards the smooth conduct of the program.

Research Paradigms - 2023

We thank our chairman sir, Medical Director Sir, Director HR & IT, Dr. Lavanya madam, Principal Sir, Medical Superintendent Sir for all the support and encouragement.Workshop on research methodology "Research Paradigms - 2023" was organized by the Scientific & Research Committee and the Institutional Ethics Committee in association with the Medical Education Unit on the 13th and the 14th December 2023 for the 1st year Junior Residents. The workshop briefed the postgraduates on the importance of research and responsibilities of the researcher, medical ethics, Generating research ideas, research question and hypothesis, Literature search, Writing title, introduction and objectives, Review of literature, Reference management, Informed consent, RGUHS & ethics committee requirements – synopsis writing & Proforma, Material & Methods, Study Design & Sampling Methods, Sample Size Calculation, Statistical analysis plan and Data Management. The final session was an interactive open house during which all the postgraduates presented the initial draft of their thesis.
