NATIONAL PHARMACOVIGILANCE WEEK -17th to 23rd SEPTEMBER 2024

The Programme was inaugurated through watering the plant by Shri Dr. M R Hulinaykar, Hon'ble Chairman, Shridevi Charitable Trust (SCT), Shri Dr. Raman M Hulinaykar Medical Director, SIMS&RH and Trustee, SCT, Smt. Dr. Lavanya Raman, Professor, Dept. of Ophthalmology & Trustee SCT, Dr Harendra Kumar ML, Principal, SIMS&RH, Dr. Mohan  Kumar K,  Medical Superintendent, SIMS&RH, Dr. Rekha Gurumurthy,Vice Principal, Academics SIMS&RH, Dr..Sparsha Deep E.M Prof. & HOD, Department of Pharmacology, SIMS&RH, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Vegi, CAO , SIMS & RH, Dr. Rajesh B, Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, Coordinator, AMC, SIMS&RH and Dr Mohammed Ziauddin Sarkhil, Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology.
Inauguration of the program was held on 18.09.2024 at Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumakuru organized by the department of Pharmacology, SIMS&RH.  
NATIONAL PHARMACOVIGILANCE WEEK- 2024   is a one- week program conducted between 17th-23rd Sept annually under the aegis of Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PVPI) of Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC).        Theme of the Programme for this year is 'Building ADR reporting culture for patient safety.'

Shri Dr. M R Hulinaykar, Honourable Chairman, SCT talked about the occurrence of Adverse Drug Reactions on employing drugs for treatment and enlightened the general public regarding the importance of reporting Adverse Drug Reactions. Adverse drug reactions (ADR) very commonly occurs in general public both in hospitals as well as homes due to consumption of various drugs on daily basis.  Although SIMS&RH has an authorised ADR monitoring Centre (AMC) reporting of ADR are done by healthcare professionals only. But the reporting of such reactions is hardly known to the general public. They have equal responsibility in reporting ADR.

Dr..Sparsha Deep E.M Prof. & HOD, Department of Pharmacology, SIMS&RH welcomed the dignitaries in the program. Programme was coordinated and compered by Dr.Chaithra K N Associate Professor, and  Dr.Ashwini P S Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, SIMS & RH. Invocation song was sung by Bhavatharini.The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Rajesh B, Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, Coordinator, AMC, SIMS&RH.

Programme was attended by General public, Patients, Faculty, UG and PGs students  of  SIMS&RH.In this regard, educational pamphlets and consumer ADR reporting forms with toll free numbers (1800 180 3024) for reporting were circulated to the general public. MBBS phase II Students performed Role play and Flash Mob to create awareness regarding the reporting of Adverse Drug Reactions for patient safety.
