Overview of the Department:

The Department of Ophthalmology has focuses on treating blindness due to cataract in the community around Tumkur and regularly conducts Eye camps in the rural parts of Tumkur district. Apart from cataract, the department offers sub specialty services like squint surgeries, retinal detachment surgeries, and other surgeries are also being conducted. Conduct regular seminars on Eye care.

The department consists of highly qualified and skilled teaching staff. Specially trained nurse and non-teaching staff to provide round the clock service. Department is well equipped with latest technology, instrument and diagnostic aids. State of the art OPD provided with new and latest facilities. Central library consist of books on the subject like Cornea, Contact Lenses, Glaucomas, Uvea, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Retina, Systemic Ophthalmology, Lasers, Basic Sciences, Ocular Therapeutics, Ophthalmic Surgery, and General Ophthalmology. Apart from this national & international journals are also subscribed.
