Milestone Achieved – 1000 Free Cataract Surgeries Completed!

A continuous education and training programme for doctors, titled ‘Cardio Shine, was held at the District Collector’s Office premises. The workshop targeted district-level and taluk-level government doctors and was inaugurated formally by District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. E.N. Chandrashekhar, in the presence of distinguished guests including District Collector Mr. Padmanaban and Dean of Tumakuru Medical College Dr. Chidananda.

During this event, experts emphasized the increasing prevalence of cardiac diseases owing to changing lifestyles, and highlighted the critical need for doctors to be updated on advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques for cardiovascular conditions. The workshop, conducted as part of CME (Continuing Medical Education) 2025, featured live demonstrations on state-of-the-art emergency measures and diagnostic tools.

The program saw the participation of over 60 doctors, who received certificates at the end. Prominent speakers included renowned cardiologists Dr. Narasimha Rao, Dr. Bhargava, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Nandini, and Dr. Venkatesh. The subjects covered ranged from preventive cardiology, management of heart failure, to the latest international treatment guidelines and technologies.

A special highlight was the emphasis placed on regular screening and early detection of cardiac ailments. Experts pointed out that nowadays, heart-related conditions are being seen even among younger age groups, and stressed the importance of prompt treatment and awareness for reducing cardiac emergencies.

The program concluded with District Health Officer Dr. Prakash noting the importance of such regular training sessions for improving the skill set of doctors, thereby resulting in better patient care and advanced healthcare services in Tumakuru district.
