Teachers’ Day Celebrations at Shridevi Medical College
Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Shridevi Medical College, Tumakuru in association with the Alumni Association. The program was inaugurated at 11 AM with a lamp lighting ceremony graced by esteemed guests.
Dr. M.R. Raman Hulinayakar, Medical Director of Shridevi Hospital and the event’s chairperson, addressed the gathering, emphasizing: “Finding a true ‘Guru’ (teacher) in life is of utmost importance. The statement ‘Guru is the guiding light of life’ is an eternal truth. Teachers are not merely lesson-givers; they are the inspiration behind our lives. Through their guidance, we learn to become good citizens of society. Moral values, spirituality, and discipline form the foundation of a good society, and it is our teachers who sow these seeds. Saying ‘Teacher is my inspiration’ is not just an expression—it’s the reality experienced throughout life. Life is incomplete without the guidance of a good teacher. The inspiration drawn from excellent teachers can transform an individual’s existence. The maxim ‘Ethics and moral values are the roots of a good life’ is noteworthy. The role of teachers in shaping individuals is unparalleled. Both teachers and doctors hold the most revered positions in society. While doctors heal the body, teachers enlighten the mind. Thus, the phrase ‘Teacher and Doctor are noble positions’ truly reflects its meaning. The teachings of our gurus illuminate the path of life. On Teachers’ Day, by offering our respects and making their inspiration our guiding light, we truly express gratitude.”
M.S. Patil, Head of Human Resources, continued the thought, stating: “Even if a teacher imparts just one letter, they play a significant role in our lives. In India, teachers have been given the highest status—supported by the saying ‘Guru is above God.’ When a student succeeds, friends and family may feel happy, but it is only the teacher who feels true pride at their student’s achievement. The greatest gift for a teacher is witnessing their student’s accomplishments. Excellent teachers’ mentorship not only creates successful individuals but also contributes immense value to society. Students must honor their teachers and parents, for their blessings are the true strength in life. If doctors provide good health, teachers provide society with good doctors. Let us sincerely thank every teacher for gifting the country outstanding students. Honoring teachers is walking society along the path of light, and by imbibing the knowledge and values gained from them, we become true disciples.”
Dr. Harendra Kumar, Principal of Shridevi College, remarked: “This year’s theme is that teachers are not just lesson-givers; they are builders of character. In colleges, fostering creativity, giving a critical direction to student thought, and inspiring exploration of new ideas are the teacher’s true duties.”
During the event, Dr. Rajesh was honored with the ‘Best Teacher’ award for 2025, and students shared their experiences, expressing gratitude: “Our teachers are the guiding lights of our lives. We are nothing without their guidance.”
The event was attended by Dr. Lavanya (Ophthalmologist, Shridevi Hospital), Dr. M.L. Harendra Kumar (Principal, Shridevi Medical College), Dr. Rekha Gurumurthy (Vice Principal, Shridevi Vaidika Mahavidyalaya), Dr. K. Mohan Kumar, Dr. Pradeep Vegi, Dr. Hemant Raj, various department heads, faculty members, and students.
